Need a career, not just a job? Perhaps you’re tired of flipping burgers, bagging groceries, working retail. Perhaps you’re just tired of not having any jingle in your pocket at the end of the week.
With some work on your part, you can be on your way to a good paying job in the Logistics industry, one of the fastest growing in Southern California. We’ll train you for free (no catches) and help you to find a job.
Because the Logistics industry is growing so rapidly, companies are in great need of qualified employees. And that’s where the Logistics Training Consortium comes in. Throughout the year, most of our partner colleges offer a Logistics Employment Training program. This is a 2-6 pre-employment program (each college’s program varies in length).
This program focuses on providing the entry-level skills to ensure your success in the workplace. These are the topics covered:
• Basic skills: work ethics, filling out job applications, interview techniques, basic computers, applied math, reading, writing, communication skills, teamwork, and customer service.
• Job-specific skills: warehouse operations, flow of goods and documents, building pallets, lifting and loading, stocking, shipping and receiving.
• Technology and equipment use: computers, bar codes, radio frequency identification, data collection, warehousing software, conveyor systems, and forklift operation.
During the training program, everyone is expected to conduct themselves professionally at all times as though they were in the workplace. You will be expected to be on time for class; dress appropriately; communicate respectfully with faculty and peers; and attend class or your internship site every day. Those individuals who don’t meet these expectations can be “terminated” from the program just as in the real world.
