About the Logistics Training Consortium

Six community colleges in a three county area in Southern California have joined forces to form the Logistics Training Consortium of Southern California (LTC).  (click here to see the locations of the colleges).  Our goal is to become the pre-eminent provider of educational and training opportunities for the distribution and logistics industries and for individuals interested in careers in these high growth industries.

The primary goal of the LTC is to provide a wide range of educational and training solutions to meet industries’ and individuals’ needs.  The LTC offers:

  1. Customized training at employers’ worksites
  2. Short term training (non-credit courses)
  3. On-line courses
  4. Credit courses that can be applied towards a certificate or an associate’s degree
How Logistic Companies and Professionals Can Benefit from the LTC
The Logistics industry and its employees can greatly benefit from the shared resources of the six colleges.  By sharing curriculum, instructors, and technology,  we can offer an extensive selection of training and educational programs that’s up-to-date and specific to the respective industries.  Our courses have been reviewed by several Business Advisory Committees comprised of professionals actively involved in the day-today operations of their companies.  They are experts in their fields.

Employers
The LTC can customize training solutions to address each employer’s unique needs.  Our training solutions run the gamut from teaching basic math skills and language skills, to upgrading Supervisory skills, to providing training mandated by California law, i.e., sexual harassment.   If your employees need to upgrade their skills on a specific processes or procedures in your operation, we can help.  The LTC’s experienced training professionals have proven track records in the Logistics industry.  They bring a strong dose of reality to staff development.  They don’t just “walk the talk,” they’ve been there themselves.

Encourage Your Employees to Upgrade their Skills
"Learning is like rowing upstream: not to advance is to drop back."
-- Chinese proverb

Encourage your employees to aim for a career, not just a job.  There’s a course, degree or certificate program at the colleges for employees with their eye on promotional opportunities and advancement.  The colleges offer a full array of degrees, certificates, and programs leading to a degree, university transfer or the job market. Professional development for those already in the workplace is a key focus of the LTC.

Pre-employment and Entry Level Training
It’s no secret that the Logistics industry suffers from a lack of qualified people in the pipeline.  To start filling this void at the entry level, most of the LTC’s college partners conduct either a four week or an eight week Logistics Employment Training (L.E.T.) program.  The L.E.T. program provides customized pre-employment training for the Logistics industry.  This program was developed to introduce and to familiarize people new to Logistics about the requirements, responsibilities, and day-to-day duties of various entry level jobs in Logistics.  (See New to Logistics?
